Siemens PLC retrofit and migration
A machine can remain mechanically sound while its PLC, HMI or other automation components become obsolete or difficult to support. AMS performs targeted retrofit projects to replace obsolete equipment without unnecessarily redesigning parts of the system that still work well.
A common case is the migration of a SIMATIC S7-300 architecture to S7-1500, including program conversion, I/O adaptation, industrial communications and improved diagnostics.
Preserve machine behaviour, modernize what needs to change
Before migration, the existing sequence, safety-related interfaces, communications and operator-specific behaviour are reviewed. The modernization can then focus on the PLC, remote I/O, HMI, networks or drives according to the actual obsolescence and project objectives.
- Assessment of the existing program and control architecture
- Replacement of obsolete PLCs and operator panels
- Code conversion, cleanup and restructuring
- Migration to TIA Portal and SIMATIC S7-1200/S7-1500
- Improved alarm handling and diagnostics
- Test preparation and recommissioning support
Reduce commissioning risk during the shutdown
The retrofit is prepared to reduce uncertainty during the machine shutdown: complete backups, I/O identification, before/after behaviour checks, communication tests and a planned restart sequence. AMS supports retrofit projects from Lyon on industrial sites throughout France and internationally.
Based near Lyon
AMS is based in Vaulx-en-Velin in the Lyon metropolitan area and supports projects throughout France and abroad.
Field-oriented engineering
Software and HMI design are developed with commissioning, diagnostics, maintenance and real production constraints in mind.
Siemens core expertise
TIA Portal, SIMATIC S7-1200/1500, WinCC, WinCC Unified and the Siemens industrial ecosystem are at the core of AMS expertise.
